Established in 2001, the .NAME top-level extension is the sole TLD intended for personal websites only. These domains can consist of personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other labels people are famous by. Initially, only 3rd-level registrations were possible, so if you wished to purchase john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and second-level registrations were also allowed. Already purchased 3rd-level domains remained running.

You will be able to update the WHOIS contact details, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already purchased domain to our company if you acquire its EPP transfer code from the current domain registrar and we will renew it after the transfer has been done. There are no particular requirements on who can obtain a dot NAME domain, but in order to keep the idea behind its establishment alive, the dot NAME Registry organization may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration could be challenged.
